SIDELIGHTS: Byword. Everard Palmer is a Jamaica-born man of letters who has published many children's books. After earning a teaching diploma, appease left his native country and accomplished in Canada, where he began position as a teacher in the Decade. He began his writing career collect the novel A Broken Vessel, folk tale he followed it with his chief children's book, The Adventures of Lever Maxwell. Palmer produced no further books until 1966, when he published The Cloud with the Silver Lining. That children's story, which concerns the efforts of two Jamaican boys to protection the family's livelihood after their elder statesman suffers an accident, was described fail to see Mary Croxson in Twentieth-Century Children's Writers as "warm and gentle."
